USMC TATTOO POLICY
BLUF: Marines may have tattoos on any area of the body, excluding the head, neck, and hands.
The content of the tattoos matters! Tattoos cannot be extremist, obscene, indecent, sexist or racist.
Tattoos on the neck and up are prohibited. The neck is defined as starting at the collarbone in the front and the 7th vertebrae in the back. Tattoos on the chest or back must be below that imaginary line and able to be covered by a properly fitted crew neck t-shirt. If you have a chest tattoo you must wear a crew neck shirt in uniform so the tattoo does not show.
Tattoo Sleeves are allowed! Tattoos on the hands or wrists are prohibited. The exception is a single ring tattoo around one finger per hand.
