Officer Blue Dress A (medals)
The only difference between Blue Dress A and Blue Dress B is medals or badges.
MEDALS are worn centered above the left breast pocket with the upper edge of the holding bar on a line midway between the first and second button.
BREAST INSIGNIA (Wings) are centered ⅛ inch above the top row of medals.
RIBBONS: only ribbons that no not have a corresponding medal are worn on Blue Dress A above the right pocket. These ribbons are worn centered above the right pocket ⅛ inch above the top of the pocket.
OFFICER RANK INSIGNIA centered, front to rear on each shoulder strap, with the bottom ¾ inch from the shoulder seam.
COLLAR EGA: Worn with wingtips parallel to the collar. "Dress collar insignia will be worn on the blue and white dress coats and evening dress jackets placed in the eyelets provided, with eagles facing inboard." The MCO states that the Eagle's wings shall be parallel the bottom of the coat (or the deck), however, MARADMIN 598/18 adjusted this to parallel the collar.
"2.g.1. Change paragraph 4001.3.a(1) to read: Insignia will be aligned vertically in the center of each side of the collar on the men's blue dress coats and the new female blue dress coat and the male officer evening dress jacket. On the staff non-commissioned officer and female evening dress jackets, the insignia will be worn on the lapel, on each side with the bottom edge horizontally parallel to the deck."
UNDERSHIRT: "The male white soft-bosom shirt is a plain, neckband-style shirt with French cuffs, five pearl buttons, and a collar stud for top buttonhole. It is worn with the officers' blue dress coat. The shirt cuffs should extend 1/8 inch below the bottoms of the coat sleeves." -MCO 1020.34H pg 1-62
CUFF LINKS SETS (MALES). "The officer or SNCO gold service cuff links sets (officers have superimposed sterling silver, rhodium-finished Marine Corps emblems; SNCOs have gold-plated Marine Corps emblems superimposed), concave gold or gold- plated cuff links, and MSC and above command level cuff links may be worn at the wearer’s option with the with the male French cuff khaki shirt and dress shirts." -MCO 1020.34H pg 1-48
Blue - White Dress is the same uniform with white trousers. Typically worn in the summer.
7014. SAM BROWNE BELT
1. The Sam Browne Belt may be worn by officers at ceremonies, parades, honor guards, and reviews when the sword is prescribed, or at such times as are deemed appropriate by the commander. The Sam Browne Belt may be worn with the blue dress "A"/"B," blue-white dress "A"/"B," and service "A" uniforms. It will not be worn with the AWC.
2. The belt is worn over the service or dress coats around the natural waist, shoulder strap over the right shoulder, and tightened with the buckle centered in front. The frog/carrier is attached to the belt at a point over the highest portion of the hipbone, generally along the seam of the left side of the coat.
